Design and Technology

Here at Kea we know that technology is vitally important to our children’s learning and it is our wish to equip children with the practical, problem solving and evaluative skills that will enable them to deal with our ever-changing world. Our teaching is aimed at giving children skills for life in a way that is fun and challenging. An emphasis is placed on team work and communication as well as well as practical skills and children are taught to evaluate their ideas and adapt them where necessary.

Our teaching falls roughly into four categories: cooking, resistant materials, textiles and systems. Health and safety is also a high priority in all lessons, as is developing the chilren’s creativity. Our projects are linked to our four year rolling programme, and we try to link with other areas of the curriculum.

Year 3 enjoyed their visit from children from Tregolls school. They all worked together on a DT project.
Here are some gingerbread houses which were part of the resistant materials project for Christmas 2018.
