The Latest Edition of the All About Family magazine:
WHY BE AWARE?
At Kea School, the children use the internet on a regular basis as part of their learning. In school we have a filtering system that is closely monitored and adjusted to address any changes to programs that we feel may affect the safety of our pupils.
Pupils are made aware of what is considered to be 'acceptable use' in school with the aim that they also adopt this level of awareness and caution when using the internet at home.
When at home, children may at times have unsupervised access to the internet and social media games if they have, for example, a games console in their room. We urge parents to ensure that they check if the games their children have access to are age appropriate. The content of many of these games can often be checked on the information provided on the packaging of through research on the internet. The Common Sense Media link below is a site that parents can use to find out more about the content of games and apps and its suitability for particular age group.
We very much value your support with reinforcing internet safety at home as well as in school.
Below are some recommended websites that help parents and their children understand how to use the internet safely.
If you have any suggestions that could further develop our aim to ensure all pupils aware of the need to remain safe online, please do not hesitate to contact the school with your ideas.
Thank you.
