What is a school blog? How will it differ from a weekly newsletter format? Our headteacher, Michael Barritt, explains the plan for the school blog.

What is a school blog?
"School blogs are designed to be a more collaborative, informative and accessible format than the standard 'weekly' news write up on school newsletters, particularly when discussing more than just weekly events.
Our weekly internal news and pictures of learning are always shared via ClassDojo, and just looking at each classes' pages this week, I can see that there have been some lovely things happening in individual classrooms and around the school!
The school blog will serve a slightly different purpose and allow us to go into a bit more detail about some of the whole-school initatives, work towards our School Vision and other 'goings-on' that the whole community will want to know about. We want the school blog to offer an insight into our school and also into wider issues within education, such as things on the national education agenda; SEND for instance.
Primarily though, the blog will here for you to read more about Kea CP School. For example- expect a blog about our new S.T.E.A.M room and our new library coming soon!"
Who will write the school blog?
"This is the bit that I am most excited about, because the school blog will belong to the whole school community! So, whilst there will be some blogs written by me, you can expect to read some written by other teachers too. In fact, not just teachers- pupils, governors, Kea School Friends, even individual family members will be asked to help keep the blogs up to date and relevant to the community. I am really looking forward to reading our first pupil-written school blog! We have some ideas about what this could be about and this will be discussed with our Pupil Voice Representatives in the first instance, but we are really open to people approaching us and suggesting some themes for the school blog. What would you like to hear about?"

How often will the school blog be updated?
"This isn't set in stone. It might be that there are some weeks when there are two or three new blogs to read, it might be that there are some weeks when there isn't an update. It will all depend on who is writing them, what the theme is and what is going on in school. We still would like at least an average of one a week over the course of the school year. So, if you have some ideas for themes, or you would like to come forward to write a school blog- let us know!"
I would love to contribute to the school blog! How do I do this?
"In the first instance, send an email to Mrs. Trivett our school secretary and then someone from the school leadership team will be in touch to discuss further.
